PHA is advised and governed by the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC), which was founded in 1902 and is the umbrella organization for all 26 major (inter)national sororities. Every member who joins a chapter is considered a member of the Panhellenic Association. The founding of PHA sparked a campus-wide increase in university involvement. Two years after PHA was founded, the fraternity men of the University of Kansas followed suit and founded their own Panhellenic Association in 1907, which was later renamed the Interfraternity Council (IFC). The Panhellenic organizations also inspired non-Greek affiliated students to form their own self-governing organizations. The University of Kansas Panhellenic Association is an inclusive community which encourages diversity and inclusion of members from all types of backgrounds and beliefs.

As a new member, you will experience many new things while getting acclimated with your sorority and the university. Each chapter has a different program specifically designed for new members to help transition them into sorority and college life. New members will learn about the history and traditions of their chapters, as well as, skills that will make for an easy transition into college life.
